The Vologda Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences that existed as the Institute of Socio-Economic Development of Territories of RAS up to August 2017 and the Vologda Scientific Coordinating Center of Central Economic and Mathematical Institute of RAS up to March 2009, is the first and the only branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences on the territory of the Vologda Oblast. Organized in the difficult years of radical economic reforms, the Research Center gradually found its place both in the Department of Social Sciences and the regional life.

The section provides information about events, transformations and novations in the Research Center since 1990 up to the present day.
The members of the Academic Council of VolRC RAS were elected at the general meeting of research associates January 14, 2016 and involve 21 persons, including 8 Doctors of Sciences and 13 Candidates of Sciences.
By virtue of their positions Director and Academic Secretary of VolRC RAS form part of the Academic Council as the Chairman of the Academic Council as the Scientific Secretary of the Council, respectively.
The Council of Young Scientists of VolRC RAS was founded pursuant to the Order of the Director. Its main goal is to unite young researchers and specialists for collaborative work, make a contribution to the development of the Research Center, and assist professional becoming and growth of young scientists.
