On February 21-25, 2022, an online conference with international participation Agricultural science at the present stage: state, problems, and prospects was held at the Vologda Research Center of the RAS as part of the VI Emelyanovsky Readings. It brought together 200 Russian and foreign scientists, heads of authorities, and representatives of agricultural enterprises for discussion scientific innovation solving agricultural problems.
ASEAN Centre in MGIMO University together with School of Applied Economics and Commerce (MGIMO), Institute of World Ocean (FEFU), Model United Nations of the Russian Far East, Russia-ASEAN Business Council, ASEAN Moscow Committee has announced winners of an Essay and Video Contest dedicated to the 25th Anniversary of Russia-ASEAN Dialogue Partnership and the 30th Anniversary of Their Bilateral Relations. The theme was Green and Blue Economy in ASEAN-Russia Relations: Perspectives, Projects, Problems.
Vologda scientists study the problems of ensuring balanced spatial development of the northern regions of Russia in context of solving strategic tasks of the country development.
V BRICS International School was organized by the Russian National Committee on BRICS Research from November 29 to December 3, 2021 in online format. Upon successfull completion of the programme, participants received certificates, among them is our colleague Nikolai Yakushev.
October 26, 2021. The Russian-Chinese conference Problems of and Opportunities for the Development of Domestic Markets and Domestic Consumption of Russia and China» organized by the Vologda Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences focused on key issues of the development of the regions of the two countries. The participants of the conference shared experiences on tackling the most pressing economic and social problems.

On June 23–25, 2021, on the eve of celebration of the 300th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences, within the framework of events dedicated to the Year of Science and Technology, there was held the 1st Summer Youth School of Social Sciences of the RAS Academician M.K. Gorshkova “Problems of Social Inequality and Social Adaptation”, organized by the Vologda Research Center of RAS and the Federal Center of Theoretical and Applied Sociology of RAS, supported by the Department of Social Sciences of RAS, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the Government of the Vologda Oblast and the Autonomous Non-Profit Educational Organization “Vologda House of Science”.
The Vologda Research Center of RAS and the European School of Social Innovation (ESSI) conducted the 1st international research workshop “Social Challenges of Modern World: Actualization of Global and Regional Social Practices” on May 18, 2021 within the framework of events devoted to the Year of Science and Technology and the 300th Anniversary of the Russian Academy of Science with the support of the RAS Department of Social Sciences and the RF Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
Results of the sociological study of charity work in local community are presented in the article written by a team of authors: Candidate of Sciences (History) Yuliya V. Ukhanova, senior researcher at the Department for the studies of lifestyles and living standards (head of the department is deputy director, Candidate of Sciences (Economics) Ol’ga N. Kalachikova), Daniel Leon, researcher from the University of Leipzig, and Renate Sigrid Schelwald, researcher from the University of Bielefeld. The research was conducted with partial financial assistance of the RFBR within the academic project no. 19-011-00724.
On May 18, 2021 (12:00 – 15:20 CET), I International Scientific and Practical Workshop “Contemporary Social Challenges”, organized by the Vologda Research Center of RAS and the European School of Social Innovation, will take place. The topic of the first session will be “Contemporary Social Challenges: Actualization of Global and Regional Social Practices”. We invite everyone to participate in the event!
Senior Researcher at the Department for the Studies of Socio-Economic Development Problems and Management in Territorial Systems (Deputy Head – Dr. Sci. (Econ.) T.V. Uskova of VolRC RAS, Can. Sci. (Econ.) N.V. Voroshilov proposed a methodological approach to assessing the socio-economic potential of rural territories and, based on its approbation, determined priority areas for ensuring their integrated and sustainable development. The research was funded by the grant of the President of the Russian Federation no. MK-2019.2020.6 “Managing integrated socio-economic development of the northern rural territories within the implementation of the state policy on regional development”.
The main stages of the formation of the demographic studies school in the Vologda Research Center of RAS are presented in the article written by VolRC RAS director, Doctor of Sciences (Economics) Alexandra A. Shabunova and deputy director, heal of department, Candidate of Ol’ga N. Kalachikova. The authors described the development of the system of thematic areas conducted by employees of the Vologda Research Center of RAS for the past 30 years.
The article of Deputy Director for Science of the Vologda Research Center of RAS, Head of Department, Dr. Sci. (Econ.), Professor Tamara V. Uskova and Junior Researcher Irina A. Sekushina is devoted to the search and scientific substantiation of new priorities of strategic management for the development of small and medium towns. The article is prepared in accordance with the state assignment for the FSBIS VolRC RAS on the topic of research no. 0168-2019-0004 “Improving the mechanisms for the development and effective use of the potential of socio-economic systems”.
